Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly back in the market, completing the third signing of this young transfer window for the club, demonstrating just how new the day is at N17.

For years now, most Tottenham Hotspur fans have wanted management that supports the squad as much as the fans. With three signings already completed and potentially several more in the offing, Spurs are showing this is not the same club as even two years ago. The push at N17 to get deals over the line is exactly what the club needs.

Ivan Perisic was an easy enough signing; with Antonio Conte in charge and the existing relationship between the Croatian player and Italian manager, it almost feels a bit like Jose Mourinho signing Nemanja Matic, almost. Then with Fraser Forster brought in, suddenly Spurs had two new players, admittedly older but new players for Conte to use.

After a quiet first weekend in the market, where the sale of oft-loaned defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, was all that happened, some folks may have been getting restless that this was going to be the same old Tottenham summer of games and disappointment.

Tottenham is working on a big signature signing

However, if reports are to be believed, Paratici and company are back on the attack, havingYves Bissouma For £25 Million” href=”https://hotspurhq.com/2022/06/14/tottenham-have-agreed-to-sign-brightons-yves-bissouma-for-25-million/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”> come to terms with Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma. Whereas the deals for Perisic and Forster were excellent additions, Bissouma is a player that can help change the game for Spurs.

For some, Bissouma may be a bit too similar to the contingent of Tottenham midfielders – including Pierre Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Oliver Skipp – but that is what Conte wants and needs.

After Skipp’s unfortunate injury to end his campaign early, Conte was quite hamstrung in his midfield options. Bentancur and Hojbjerg got most of the minutes, with Harry Winks making some brief substitute cameo appearances.

WIth a fourth player that Conte trusts to man the middle, this makes the team deeper and more prepared to fight on multiple fronts. Tottenham was lucky only to have one competition for the last two months of the season, or it could have been horrible with two overworked midfielders trying to run the show.

Now, Conte has what he wants, choice,  which means he can be even more tactical with the club moving forward.

Ideally, Bissouma is not the last early window signing for Spurs, Christian Eriksen is still available on a free transfer, and Djed Spence is also rumoured to be heading to north London. If you can add those two players into the existing haul, suddenly Tottenham has a significant transformation brewing this window.

Even with those five signings, assuming Spence and Eriksen come, do not expect Spurs to be finished. We know that left-back and striker are still two areas of need for the team.

Maybe Tottenham will not get everyone Conte wants this summer; Bastoni looks doubtful, but it is still possible. However, if Paratici can bring enough of what Conte wants early in the summer, it could make for a season to remember, which is the other thing fans desire.
