It was inevitable that the Conference League squad would be updated for Tottenham Hotspur before the group stage begins, that has happened and there is one big addition.

When neither Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele were named to the Tottenham Conference League playoff squad it was assumed that was because neither had a future at N17. Aurier had reportedly wanted out so badly he agreed with the club to have his contract terminated. The same situation does not apply to the most expensive transfer purchase of all time at Tottenham, Tanguy Ndombele. Without a move for the Frenchman surfacing during the window, Tottenham did the only sensible thing and named Ndombele in the updated Conference League squad.

Changes for the Tottenham squad in Europe

There were a few changes to the Spurs squad for the group stages of the Conference League. Since Moussa Sissoko was sold and Cameron Carter-Vickers was sent out on loan, they were removed. The other player who got the ax was more an unfortunate numbers situation.

18-year old Maksim Paskotsi, who has been receiving the call-up from Estonia, and had a strong preseason for the club was dropped. Despite his youth, Paskotsi is not locally trained – as he has been at the club for two seasons – so he does not qualify for the B List. As such he is not available for these matches while Tobi Omole is on the squad and Kallum Cesay is on the B list.

Paskotsi will get his shot it just will not be this season. The reason Paskotsi got the ax is all about numbers and with the new signing of Emerson Royal. A club must have at least eight locally trained players in the side, meaning at most 17 players who are not. Clearly, Emerson was not locally trained and since Paskotsi did not meet B List requirements, the change is the result.
