Tottenham Hotspur had a solid summer transfer window and has started the season well, however, to achieve the team’s goals more moves are needed in January.

The rebuild at Tottenham Hotspur is well underway, the squad is much younger than the one Jose Mourinho turned out a year ago and has a bit more balance. The makeover is not complete, however, and the club still needs to both move some players and bring ins some other fresh faces.  So what is on schedule for January, Fabio Paratici, and Tottenham Hotspur?

Finishing strong a goal for Spurs

Last season was one where each game was almost a microcosm of the season. With each squandered lead, and were reminded of being in first place in December only to drop completely out of the top four and almost out of any Europe.

Thus far, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Spurs team looks more fit and ready to handle the rigors of a 90-minute match than did Mourinho’s lot. Instead of getting weaker and losing control over the last 20 minutes of matches, so far the Spurs have been getting stronger as the games go on.

A good January could turn the tide for Tottenham

Can this squad continue to play with the kind of pressure and relentlessness needed to carry out Santo’s plan over the full season? We wondered that exact question aloud here at HotspurHQ after the Manchester City game.

Given the squad is likely to be hampered much of the season by both inevitable injuries and issues around South American players participating in World Cup qualifiers, this team may not be as deep as it needs to be. The good news is that January will bring a new opportunity for Tottenham to continue some unfinished business and hopefully set the team right to finish the job this year.

Based on the team’s current construction and needs moving forward here are five moves the club should reconsider come January.
