Will Fabio Paratici even reach July 1 with Tottenham Hotspur?

The new Italian Managing Director, Football, Fabio Paratici has not even officially started yet but already signs of trouble are appearing at Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been less than a week since Tottenham announced that Fabio Paratici was going to be taking over football operations at the club effective July 1. Paratici famously helped rebuild Juventus from the second division to multiple Serie A Championships. However, coming from a club like Juventus where money was not an issue to Tottenham Hotspur was always going to represent problems. There are other issues that are already emerging from N17.

Trouble already at Tottenham?

Now after a farcical 24 hours in the manager search, there are grumblings already arising that Paratici and Levy do not see eye-to-eye. With reports coming from Ali Gold that there are ‘slight’ differences of opinion, we have to wonder what is next.

Frankly for Gold to call one person wanting a progressive, expansive, attacking coach and the other wanting a pragmatic, reserved, defensive coach a “slight difference of opinion” is a real understatement.

It sounds like Paratici is describing someone like Mourinho or Gattuso, while Levy is looking for a Nagelsmann or Fonseca type. The reality is that none is coming and this kind of difference in philosophy is concerning.

Surely the two men spoke about this ahead of time and Paratici would have come in with a pre-approved short-list of names, right?  The idea that the two are not singing the same tune already makes you wonder. This was supposed to be a first step forward, not another step backward.

Levy not really letting go at Tottenham?

Equally disturbing to the idea that the two newlyweds are not even having a honeymoon is that Levy is clearly still deeply involved. I think most people were hoping that the signing of Paratici would mean Levy could go do business deals and Paratici could run the football team.

However, if the last few days have been any indication it seems like Levy is still only going to approve what he wants, which begs the question, what was the point of hiring Paratici?

Of course, this is very early, heck, officially Paratici has not even started, which makes all this even more concerning. If the man has not actually started officially working and is already butting heads with his boss, how long can it last?  Most people do not leave companies, they leave their boss and it is quite possible Paratici woke up this morning asking himself if he really wants to do this.

Nothing is for sure, it all can be just talk

The worst part about all of this is we really have little idea of what is actually happening behind the scenes. Levy was reported to be speaking about being linked with 30 different names as a coach. At this point, we do not need 30, we just need one and the longer it takes for that one to emerge the more rumors and innuendo we will be subject to.

Until something official happens rumors and innuendo are all we have and we fans have had enough. The question is if Paratici has too at this ridiculously early stage of his tenure.
