Tottenham are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they face Newcastle United after a much-needed Carabao Cup win during the week. Spurs lost their first Premier League game in disappointing fashion, coming up well short of Brentford.
But Roberto De Zerbi's men netted five as they defeated Charlton Athletic in the cup during the week, and they will be looking to take that good feeling into this weekend's clash against a Newcastle United side that have lost a lot of quality this summer.
The Magpies drew with Liverpool in their opening game, conceding a late penalty, and they won in the cup during the week, narrowly defeating West Brom 3-2. Ahead of Saturday's clash in North London, we have rounded up the latest injury news surrounding both sides.
Dan Burn - Out
Burn is going to be out for a little while with an ankle ligament injury. Matthias Jaissle has said: "With Dan, it’s clear that he will be out for a couple of weeks. How long exactly? That will be decided. But for sure, our medical department is excellent, so he will be back on the grass as soon as possible."
Joelinton - Out
Joelinton is going to be sidelined until around mid-September with a thigh issue. Jaissle has said: "'Yeah, for sure, he's out for a couple of weeks, but I don't want to go too much into detail as there will always be specialists involved. The medical department are aware of it, and I'm really confident that he will be back ASAP."
William Osula - Out
It's a similar story for Osula, who picked up an ankle issue in the first game. Jaissle said: "Will, we need to see. Hopefully, it’s not that serious. He will be back as soon as possible as well. For now, it looks quite good."
Tino Livramento - Doubt
Livramento could return here having returned to training last week, but a start may be too much to ask.
Xavi Simons - Out
Simons ruptured his ACL last season and he will remain out, likely until around February time.
Wilson Odobert - Out
Odobert also ruptured his ACL last season, but earlier on, so he is going to be out until late November to early December.
Mohammed Kudus - Out
Kudus is not expected back this weekend, with a return the following weekend more likely. The winger has been recovering from a longer term hamstring issue.
James Maddison - Doubt
Maddison has been dealing with a shoulder injury and he will be hoping to shake it off in time.
Pape Matar Sarr - Doubt
Sarr missed last weekend with pain in his hamstring. He could return here, but he remains a doubt.
Dejan Kulusevski - Out
Barring a surprise, Kulusevski will remain out as he builds up his fitness from a very long term injury. De Zerbi said last week: "Kulusevski [is] fit and right, he's one of the best players we have in the squad... I wouldn't like to put too much pressure on him to accelerate the process of rehab, but I hope he can be available as early as possible."
