The buoyant Lilywhites are back in Saturday evening action, welcoming Crystal Palace to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was quite the few days for Spurs after they secured just their second Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge last week. Mike Penders' errant punch and Mathys Tel's superb individual strike thrust Roberto De Zerbi's impressive side to a 2-0 win, building on their maiden league triumph of the season against Coventry City.

Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or followed, then League Two Fleetwood Town stunned Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs reside in the lofty heights of 14th, and are now preparing to face one of the teams worse off than them in the table.

Pierre Sage remains firmly on the hot seat at Selhurst Park, despite guiding Palace into the Carabao Cup quarterfinals in the week. Few would suggest that Wednesday's victory was the sign of things to come, however.

Palace have emphatically succumbed to A23 rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and an out-of-sorts Newcastle United side with a whimper in back-to-back league outings, with plenty calling for Sage's head already. They're down in 17th with seven points, boasting the worst defensive record in the division.

However, Palace have won on their previous two visits to N17.

Tottenham team news

Much of the angst in N17 surrounds the fitness of James Maddison, who limped off at the start of the second half last weekend due to a suspected groin issue. The English playmaker, despite his unrelenting fitness setbacks, could yet be available for Palace's visit.

De Zerbi hopes to be able to call upon Maddison on Saturday, but he may be limited to a cameo off the bench. In his place, the Italian could turn to Mohammed Kudus, Conor Gallagher, or maybe Omar Marmoush, who started up top against Chelsea and has so far been used in various attacking roles by the manager.

Sávio remains sidelined, but Destiny Udogie, Lucas Bergvall and Tosin Adarabioyo could all return to the matchday squad. Mykhailo Mudryk is also close to a comeback after almost two months out.

Pedro Porro is set to replace Archie Gray at right-back after appearing off the bench at the Bridge. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes will work in midfield tandem, especially with Rodrigo Bentancur serving the last game of his suspension.

Tottenham predicted lineup vs Crystal Palace: Kinsky; Porro, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Tonali, Fernandes; Kudus, Marmoush, Tel; Solanke

Crystal Palace team news

Sage made widespread changes to his starting XI at Fulham in the week, and some of those who starred in Wednesday's victory could retain their places in north London.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is a sure bet to return to Palace's team, with Sage confirming that the French striker was merely rested midweek.

However, the Eagles are without the dangerous Ismaïla Sarr, who ran amok in N17 last season, until after the international break, and potentially also Jøgren Strand Larsen, another goalscorer in Palace's 3-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in March.

Dean Henderson is back in action after a spell out, and Quinten Timber may be ready to play a role off the bench.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup vs Tottenham: Henderson; Richards, Disasi, Canvot; Khelali, Kamada, Wharton, Mitchell; McNeil, Pino; Mateta.

Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace score prediction

It'd be incredibly Spursy to not show up here, and fall incredibly flat against a really quite poor Crystal Palace team. The majority of the sides who have faced the Eagles have had their way with them this season, with the nature of their previous two league defeats a source of great concern for supporters.

Hope had seemingly been lost, although some was restored in the week at Craven Cottage.

Still, I just think Spurs are in a good moment. We haven't had very many in recent years, but we are in the midst of a shift under De Zerbi. With Maddison potentially available, I think we win rather serenely—a goal in each half to see us over the line. The absence of Sarr limits what Palace can achieve in transition.

Prediction: Tottenham 2–0 Crystal Palace
