Roberto De Zerbi's players are back for the start of pre-season at Hotspur Way. Well, the vast majority anyway.

There's still Lilywhite representation at the World Cup, and the chance for a Spurs player to lift the sport's most esteemed prize on July 19 after Hugo Lloris captained France to glory in 2018 and Cristian Romero shone in Qatar four years ago.

The World Cup has almost served as a distraction to the remarkable ongoings in north London, with Spurs acting with the ruthless swagger their supporters have craved for far too long. The week started with confirmation of Sandro Tonali's £100m arrival, and that's been followed by a couple of necessary departures.

The club will continue to chop the deadwood and continue its pursuit of forward players. Here are the latest Tottenham transfer rumours.

Spurs insider battles Fabrizio Romano over Rafael Leão pursuit

Spurs are mulling over their winger options in the market, with Fabrizio Romano insistent that Savinho remains our priority. I'm not buying it. If we were convinced by the Brazilian, we'd have struck a deal with Manchester City by now and Savinho would already be training at Hotspur Way.

Fabrizio also believes that we've overlooked the chance to sign Rafael Leão, who, according to emerging transfer insider @szyexcl, is still very much on our radar. ’Szy’ writes that talks have recently been held with the player's camp and they've been backed up by Daniele Longo of Calcio Mercato, who reports that Spurs have sent AC Milan an offer for the Portuguese winger.

There are conflicting reports on any potential interest in Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, too. Fabrizio seems bullish, but his agent is said to be offering his client all over the place.

Spurs leading Eli Junior Kroupi race

We've learned from the aforementioned Szy that Spurs, still with cash spare, are the only club willing to test Bournemouth's resolve for Eli Junior Kroupi this summer.

He's our priority striker target, but he could cost upwards of £85m. That's what Bournemouth want, according to reports.

A stellar debut Premier League season means Kroupi, only 20-years-old, has attracted interest from around the continent. Barcelona are supposedly considering him as a Julián Alvarez alternative, while Paris Saint-Germain are also lurking.

Despite the stature of the clubs on his tail, Kroupi is seemingly another swept away by De Zerbi's project pitch. teamTALK reports that the French forward prefers a move to north London due to the likely importance of his role under De Zerbi.

Alfie Devine rejoins Preston in club-record deal

It's been a good week of sales for the club, with Radu Drăgușin unlikely to ever play for the club again after he joined Fiorentina on loan with an obligation to buy permanently. Good riddance.

A lower key departure was young midfielder Alfie Devine, who'd attracted interest from Celtic, Southampton and Wolves, but has instead rejoined Preston North End after impressing on loan at Deepdale last season.

He's joined the club in a record £6m deal, and has been labelled a "benchmark signing" by former Preston goalkeeper Alan Kelly.
