“He is a high-profile player and again, we’ve seen Tottenham in the past not be afraid to make those hard decisions or to be hard negotiators with Daniel Levy’s style.

“There is still a risk attached to that given the profile of the player so it’s an important consideration and ultimately, it becomes mostly financial, certainly given the way the player is at the minute, but it will be a big decision for the board to make,” Plumley said.
