Tottenham need to make big changes to their squad this summer as they look to avoid yet another lowly league finish.
Roberto De Zerbi is likely to be backed in the summer window, and we are already seeing deals get struck ahead of the World Cup. Here we take a look at what Tottenham's starting XI could look like next season based on recent rumours.
GK - Antonin Kinsky
With Vicario set to leave, Tottenham are being linked with a number of goalkeepers. But De Zerbi will have been impressed with what he saw from Kinsky during the run-in, and as things stand, he might move to start the young keeper and add competition in case things don't work out, rather than trying to sign a bonified number one. Spurs have bigger needs elsewhere and they may have to pick and choose.
LB - Andy Robertson
Robertson is set to arrive on a free deal from Liverpool and it will be interesting to see if he starts over the likes of Destiny Udogie on the left. De Zerbi may well lean on his experience early on and let the battle play out.
CB - Jan Paul van Hecke
Tottenham's main target at centre- back appears to be Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke, and should he arrive this summer, there is no doubt that he will be a starter, replacing Cristian Romero, who is likely to leave.
CB - Micky van de Ven
Van de Ven may have to wait a year for his departure, although there is likely to be interest. Marcos Senesi is to be snapped up on a free from Bournemouth, so he would be an option whether or not van de Ven goes.
RB - Pedro Perro
It would be another interesting battle on the right between Djed Spence and Pedro Porro. The latter may currently have the edge, though it is a close battle
CDM - Joao Palhina
Tottenham would be silly not to snap up Joao Palhinha on a permanent deal following his loan spell with the club. He is a leader on the pitch and undoubtedly Tottenham's best option in the holding midfield role. He has a proven Premier League ability, and it's one Spurs need to get over the line.
CM - Conor Gallagher
We saw the best of Gallagher under De Zerbi and it's an exciting prospect to see what the midfielder can produce in a full season working under the Spurs boss.
CM - James Maddison
Maddison is a clear starter after what will be an important pre-season for him. Spurs missed his creativity last season and he will be a welcome addition.
LW - Savinho
Spurs also missed Kulusevski, who should be back to full fitness and with a pre-season under his belt next term, but it has been a very long layoff. A new starter is likely to be sourced in long-term target Savinho, who could slot straight in should he arrive from Manchester City. Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert will also be seen as good options.
RW - Mohammed Kudus
Kudus missed the end of the season with an injury of his own, but he should be a starter when he returns. Xavi Simons is out for some time, too, so Kudus should have the run of the position for the most part, although some of the left-sided options will also naturally be options here.
ST - Serhou Guirassy
Spurs need a striker this summer. They need to upgrade on Dominic Solanke and Richarlison, and the latter could yet depart. We haven't seen too many credible links up top, but one option couild be dangerous Borussia Dortmund frontman Guirassy, who has been linked on and off.
