Since the start of the 2025/26 season when things were looking so promising for Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur, there were a number of Spurs fans clamoring for a reunion with Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane.
Finally getting his flowers to the true extent that he deserves, the England international has been on absolute fire this season and is showing no signs of letting up or slowing down. Kane is at a record pace again to start the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign with 12 goal and 3 assists in 7 Bundesliga games along with 5 Champions League scores in 3 matches, standing toe-to-toe with Kylian Mbappe as the clear Ballon d'Or favorites in the early going.
Part of the reason why Tottenham fans started thinking about Kane as an option, other than the obvious nostalgia, was the fact that the 32-year-old is literally exactly what Spurs are missing in order to become a true contender. And then when Raphael Honigstein opened the door for a possible Kane exit in the summer 2026 transfer window, Spurs supporters were fully onboard.
But throughout the last several weeks, the reality is setting in that Kane most likely isn't going anywhere, and a big part of that is his own desire to stay in Bavaria with how much he is enjoying his football - and, yes, the chase for titles.
Harry Kane is probably staying with Bayern Munich
In the latest Harry Kane transfer blow for Tottenham, BILD's Tobias Altschaffl reports that Bayern are actually planning on opening transfer talks with Kane after his release clause expires in January, Bayern want to extend Kane's contract for several more years despite him being 32, because they believe since his game is built around technique and intelligence, he has plenty left in the tank.
Tottenham probably feel the exact same way about Kane, but if Kane isn't willing to leave Bayern in January, that release clause will lapse and give Bayern the chance to extend the superstar striker for good in February for the next three years or so.
Spurs are about to officially miss out on their chance at a Kane reunion, and, at this point, it looks like Spurs supporters need to move forward operating under the impression that the ship has sailed with the world-class No. 9. Tottenham are going to have to hope that one of Randal Kolo Muani or Dominic Solanke becomes the solution this season, otherwise it is back to the drawing board for Thomas Frank.
