Mikey Moore is on his way out of Tottenham this summer, temporarily, to seek game time. His rumored loan move to Rangers is the best-case scenario.
Tottenham has long been a place for young players to reach their potential. Over the past few decades alone, they have unearthed gems in Gareth Bale, Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker.
Right now, there's a crop of young players which features Brennan Johnson, Mikey Moore and Archie Gray, to name just a few. There's a growing feeling, particularly after the Europa League win, that this is a new golden generation for Thomas Frank to steer.
Mikey Moore will now leave Tottenham on loan
One of the first decisions Frank made was to send Mikey Moore out on loan. This was an admirable decision from Frank because he's essentially admitted that while Moore has a great future ahead of him, Frank can't commit to game time. Honesty is the best policy, and all that.
But making the decision is only one part of the deal. Next up is the most important part - Where will Moore go out on loan?
It's all well and good saying "the best club gets him," but that's the best way to be counterproductive. Tottenham must think about, realistically, where Moore will get the most amount of game time, in a system which is best for his development.
Enter his next club, Rangers.
Rangers is the best loan destination for Mikey Moore
According to a report from Michael Bridge of Sky Sports, Mikey Moore's most likely destination is Rangers of the Scottish Premiership. It'll be a season-long straight loan deal, which is Tottenham's preference, after Moore chose Rangers over several Championship offers.
Blimey, that'd be a great move. Rangers is a possession-heavy club, which will be the case even more under Russell Martin (his Premier League experience aside). Martin is a great player developer, so working under him will do wonders for Moore's confidence.
As an attack-oriented player, Moore will thrive at a possession-heavy team. Of course, Rangers are always unlikely to win the Premiership, with Celtic often the favorites, but they play with great heart and there will be plenty of tactical lessons for Moore to learn.
One Tottenham fan said: "Excellent loan if true," while another said "I prefer [players loaned to Scotland]. They get experience in a winning team, less games, no one's trying to beat them to death, similar level and chance of playing in some sort of Europe if it's the top 3."
On the flip side, the Gers will be signing a cracking young player with the world at his feet. Tottenham aren't giving up on him, but insted allowing a move where his path to the first team is easier than it would be in North London.
