Tottenham's Mikey Moore transfer stance isn't a no, but Spurs fans will love it

Tottenham are willing to let a gem go this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have made it their priority to land more young attacking talent in the summer 2025 transfer window, first keeping one of their own on a permanent basis by spending a reasonable 35 million euros for Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. Since then, they have officially brought in Mohammed Kudus and all but signed another standout Premier League player in attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

But beyond adding new faces to the Tottenham attack, Spurs have also been pushing to keep another one of their own, as they have been in frequent negotiations with young gem winger Mikey Moore in order to lock him down with a contract extension.

The thing is, other clubs around Europe have taken notice of the talented young Moore after his standout displays at the Europa League level last season, and the most prominent of those suitors is Borussia Dortmund, a Champions League level club that are known around the world for turning young stars into superstars for Europe's elite (like Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham).

Dortmund have not waned in their interest in Moore, and Sport Bild's Jorg Weiler and Yannick Huber report that BVB have continued to focus on the 17-year-old Tottenham right winger as an option on the transfer market. Moore is reportedly open to a move in order to get game time, and, here's the kicker, Spurs are said to be open to a straight-up loan deal...but only a straight-up loan deal.

The seats on the right wing have been filled

That would actually be the best-case scenario for Tottenham. Because Moore is right; his path to playing time this season at Tottenham is even worse than it would be at Dortmund, which would have seemed incredulous a few months ago.

And that's because Tottenham just invested more than 50 million pounds in Kudus, who is a left-footed right winger and figures to be an immediate start. Brennan Johnson is another player Thomas Frank, the new Tottenham coach, is high on, going back to when he recruited him for Brentford. And Moore isn't going to get minutes on the right wing over Dejan Kulusevski either.

It makes less than zero sense for Tottenham to sell their best homegrown player when they are trying so hard to extend him, and selling Moore would only net a few million euros when his future value could easily be worth at least what Spurs just paid to sign Kudus and Gibbs-White.

A loan to Dortmund could help Moore get even more value and experience, becoming either a new starter for Tottenham or someone Spurs are able to sell to another club for even more. Either way, Tottenham fans shouldn't be opposed to a loan to Dortmund - a great place for Moore to land - and they should be happy that's the extent to which Spurs are considering a Moore deal this summer.
