Tottenham injury news: These 9 players will miss Southampton trip
By Kian Long
Tottenham Hotspur take on Southampton away from home in the Premier League this weekend. It will be a battle between two clubs struggling for form and lacking consistency so far this season.
On paper, this should be an easy match for Spurs to win. However, as proven time and time again this season, there are no "easy" matches for this Tottenham team.
Ange Postecoglou's men took on Rangers in Glasgow on Thursday night. It was a disappointing away visit in the Europa League, as Postecoglou failed to pick up all three points on his return to Scotland.
Heading into the match against Southampton, all eyes will be on the Tottenham team. Over the last few weeks, Spurs have been without some of their key players through injuries.
Of course, there are also a few suspension concerns for Tottenham Hotspur to contend with. Long story short, Spurs have not made it any easier for themselves.
Which players will miss Southampton vs Tottenham?
Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma will definitely miss the match for Tottenham. Both players are suspended, leaving an unfortunate midfield conundrum for Ange Postecoglou.
But it's not as bad as the midfield. At the weekend against Chelsea, Tottenham lost defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven through injury. Both players are expected to miss this match too.
Speaking on Romero and van de Ven, Postecoglou said: "Obviously guys get injured and without getting too technical, you need to let the injury settle down before you get a real prognosis so it will probably be next week some time with Micky and Cristian."
They will join long-term injury absentees Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Ben Davies and Guglielmo Vicario. Lastly, Mikey Moore is expected to miss Southampton vs Tottenham through illness.
Overall, Tottenham have nine players missing from Southampton vs Tottenham: Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma (both suspended), Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Ben Savies, Guglielmo Vicario (all injured) and Mikey Moore (illness)
How will Tottenham lineup vs Southampton?
There are expected to be a few changes heading into this match. Ange Postecoglou was very critical of his team after the match against Rangers, most notably he was not pleased with Timo Werner.
Clarifying his comments this morning, Ange said: "Last night wasn't about Timo Werner, it's the situation we're in. There are other players who could also give more to what we were trying to do last night. I just felt last night because he hasn't played a lot there should have been some freshness around him."
Pedro Porro dropped an absolute stinker against Rangers on Thursday evening. It was an inexcusable display, so don't be surprised to see him dropped from the lineup this weekend.
Predicted Tottenham lineup vs Southampton: Forster; Spence, Gray, Dragusin, Udogie; Kulusevski, Sarr, Bergvall; Johnson, Solanke, Son
