Tottenham handed painful injury reminder before Bournemouth game
By Kian Long
Ahead of the Bournemouth game in midweek, Tottenham have been reminded about the unfortunate injury reality, involving one of their star players.
Tottenham Hotspur fans cannot count on both hands the amount of injury setbacks they've had this season. While it isn't an excuse for the poor start to the season, it could've been much easier for Spurs, had luck been on their side.
Either way, there is one Tottenham player who is of utmost importance to Ange Postecoglou. The player is Cristian Romero, who has been missing from action since the middle of last month.
It is safe to say that Spurs have coped better than expected with his absence, especially considering Micky van de Ven has also been out of action. Either way, Spurs fans will be excited to see him back... Potentially against Bournemouth?

The key word is potentially. Ange Postecoglou confirmed that, as of yesterday, Cristian Romero had not trained with Tottenham. He is unable to provide a definitive answer about whether or not the World Cup winner will be available to face Bournemouth in midweek.
However, even if Cristian Romero does return to action in time to face Bournemouth, Tottenham fans have been reminded not to expect the full 90 out of the Argentine.
Dr Rajpal Brar told Tottenham Hotspur News that he doesn't expect Cristian Romero to play the entire match against Bournemouth, if he plays any, due to the length of time he's been missing. He also stated that whether or not he plays depends on how he trains over the next two days.
“How he responds to training will be the key”, Dr Rajpal Brar said. "Whether that’s his pain and discomfort level, movement, and/or confidence on the pitch. Playing 90 minutes is unlikely given he’s been out for a month."
When a player returns from injury, it is easy to become excited and hysterical about their return. As fans, we are eager to see players back on the pitch. This is especially the case for players as important as Cristian Romero.
However, we must also not forget that players are human beings. While they train hard and they work intensely on rehabilitation with great facilities, their bodies can still take time to recover from injury setbacks.
So, while it would've been nice to see Romero to play the entire match against Bournemouth, this is simply unlikely. We don't like to be the bearers of bad news but unfortunately, the reminder was a necessary one. Let's hope the Tottenham defender has recovered well and he plays against Bournemouth, in some capacity.
