Embattled Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario delivered a significantly better performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, making a save from range that highlighted what he is capable of when he is at his best. Unfortunately for Vicario, that performance was too little too late for his Spurs future, and, really, he has been at his best so infrequently this season that you would have forgiven Spurs fans for forgetting how good he was in Serie A.
The Italian clubs have not, though, and they have been lining up with significant interest in the former Empoli star. Inter Milan are looking to replace Yann Sommer, one of the most well known goalkeepers in the world, and Vicario has been tabbed as their ideal replacement for the aging Swiss international.
According to the latest information from Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, even though there have been rumors linking World Cup hero Emiliano Martinez to Inter Milan, Gulgielmo Vicario is high on the Nerazzurri's transfer wish list. "Talks to follow" between Inter and Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer, and Fab maintains that Vic is one of the "main names" the Serie A title favorites have for the goalkeeper position.
Inter Milan are big fans of Guglielmo Vicario
Vicario has the worst save percentage of any Premier League starting goalkeeper right now, and the fans are clearly against him after watching so many blatant errors on the ball. But it is his lack of leadership, constantly yelling at his teammates for his own inexcusable mistakes, that truly soured the fan base on Vicario months ago.
Tottenham want to sign someone younger and better in goal. Many fans are dreaming of Manchester City No. 2 James Trafford, who should have been the Man City No. 1 but was usurped by a sudden transfer deal for Champions League hero Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG. Current PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier is also an option after already falling out of favor in the French capital.
Tottenham are not going to have a ton of options in goal, but they should be able to find at least a few candidates superior to Vicario, who has been one of the Premier League's worst in the 2025/26 season. Spur are partially in the mess they are in and in the Premier League relegation fight because of all the points Vicario has cost them in the table; it is actually surprising that his Serie A reputation still has Inter interested.
