Tottenham Hotspur's season is up and running. On Wednesday night, Roberto De Zerbi's side demolished Charlton Athletic 5-1 in North London in the Carabao Cup second round. After a nervy start, Mikey Moore and Dominic Solanke bagged quick fire goals on the cusp of half time.

After the interval, Kevin Danso, debutant Sávio and captain for the night Ben Davies were all on target in a resounding victory. However, as most Spurs fans were still on their way home from N17, the third round draw was made, handing De Zerbi's side a nightmare tie.

The eight clubs competing in the Champions League and Europa League all have to be kept apart due to scheduling conflicts. This, of course, does not include Tottenham, which increased their chances of landing a tough opponent, and so it proved.

Due to Liverpool's involvement in the Champions League, this tie will take place the week commencing 14 September. It will be scheduled for either Tuesday 15 or Wednesday 16.
