Tottenham captain aspires to lead team to FA Cup glory
Since Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich in 2023, Tottenham Hotspur’s captain has carried the weight of captaincy and leadership on his shoulders.
Currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur are striving to regain their form and turn this season into a memorable one.
The South Korean captain, Son Heung-Min, known for his dazzling footwork and knack for crucial goals, remains a beloved figure at Spurs.

However, as TV commentator Ian Darke recently pointed out, the absence of Kane has left a void in Son's performances, with the forward struggling to recreate the same magic he once shared with his former teammate.
As quoted by Tottenham News, despite being a model professional and a favourite among fans, Darke suggests that Son has not reached the heights of his 2021 peak.
"I’m not quite sure what his mentality is – he’s such a good pro and knows how much he means to Tottenham and their fans after what he’s done for the club.
“I don’t think he’ll say anything out of place in that regard. They obviously still think he’d be an asset going on 33, 34, although he’s never quite hit another partnership the way he had with Harry Kane,” Darke noted.
Reports suggest that talks to extend his contract until the summer of 2026 are progressing well, highlighting the faith Spurs continue to place in their iconic forward.
This vote of confidence comes at a crucial time, as Tottenham eye silverware for the first time since their League Cup triumph in 2008.
The trophy drought
For Son and Spurs, breaking the trophy drought is a matter of pride and redemption. Since joining the club in 2015, Son has delivered countless memorable moments but is yet to lift a trophy in North London.
With Tottenham sitting in a promising position in domestic competitions this season, there is hope that this could finally be their year.
The FA Cup represents a golden opportunity for Tottenham, and Son will undoubtedly play a key role. His experience and leadership could inspire his teammates as they navigate a potentially tricky route to Wembley.
Seeing their captain lift silverware would not only cement Son's legacy but also mark the end of years of frustration.
With everything in place, it’s now Son’s chance to lead Tottenham back to the top and show why he’s one of the Premier League’s finest. We’ll see if he can pull it off.
