The path is slowly clearing for Tottenham's dream January transfer window signing

It's OK to have hope.

Everyone knows that while Thomas Frank should be doing a much better job with the talent in the current Tottenham Hotspur squad than he is currently, the Spurs roster could also use a real talent injection in the upcoming transfer windows to iron out a few big holes left in the squad.

Spurs still haven't fully settled in on a striker of the future and one more deep lying playmaking midfielder would be beneficial, too. But by far the biggest need Spurs have is a goal scoring left winger who can bring dynamism and play at a superstar level, since Spurs are severely lacking game changers in the attack. The only one who even semi qualifies as a star player is Mohammed Kudus, and he needs more help on the left side.

Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo was already on Spurs radar last summer as a breakout star from the 2024/25 season, and now almost every Big Six club is in on the Ghanaian international, who has a 65 million pound release clause active this January transfer window.

Liverpool are cooling their interest

He's playing as well as any player in the Premier League this season not named Erling Braut Haaland, so a caliber of winger like this in January is massive - and he won't even miss AFCON, since both he and fellow Ghanaian Kudus did not qualify this year.

Liverpool are the reigning Premier League champions and in a tough period, so many analysts have tabbed them as early favorites to sign the Bournemouth star. But according to a new report from The Athletic's Gregg Evans in the Transfer DealSheet, Liverpool are no longer in a rush to sign Antoine Semenyo despite wanting a fast, proven winger to replace Luis Diaz and liking Semenyo as an option. They don't want to block Rio Ngumoha's development and are mindful of how much they spent on attacking signings last summer.

So while the Reds are still on the radar for Semenyo, both they and Manchester United appear to be cooling their immediate interest in him. That leaves Manchester City and common transfer rivals Arsenal as the main suitors.

So the path is slowly clearing for Spurs to make a statement signing this January, and if it is true that they have the money invested after booting out Daniel Levy, then now it all comes down to Spurs having the will and that extra bit of intestinal fortitude to beat the big boys to a very big Premier League transfer fish this winter.
