The Athletic just said the quiet part out loud about Igor Tudor to Tottenham

The Athletic recently ran an article which hit at the uncomfortable truth. Igor Tudor is a mastermind when it comes to grabbing clubs low in confidence by the scruff of the neck and carrying them. Tottenham needed that, and anyone claiming Tudor isn't the man for that is mistaken.

In his own words, James Horncastle said, "Clubs turn to Igor Tudor when they’re on a cliff edge – Spurs will not daunt him." There couldn't be a truer depiction of Tottenham right now, as grim as it might sound.

They needed to decide to part ways with Thomas Frank because they even hired him. It was entirely the wrong decision, and now they're turning to stiff-upper-lip Igor Tudor to save them.

Tottenham IS a club on a 'cliff edge', hence why Igor Tudor was hired

Tottenham is on a cliff edge. However, as pointed out in The Athletic's article, Tudor has saved clubs in worse positions with worse players and less time available.

In many ways, Tottenham is not a challenge for Tudor. The club would be a challenge for many, but not him.

It's about time Spurs hired a coach who relishes a challenge and views it as an opportunity. Too often, they have hired soft managers. Their best appointment was Ange Postecoglou, who actually dared to do, and got fired because of it.

Igor Tudo being hired to replace Thomas Frank is a statement from Tottenham. The club was questioned for their inability to live up to its culture, but hiring Tudor is a step in the right direction.

He isn't the long-term option, nor does he expect to be. Tudor is no club's long-term option. However, he can steady the Tottenham ship, for now. Avoiding relegation is an absolute bare minimum for him; he will want to set the club up for future success next season.

There are players who will benefit, and players who will miss out. This is simply part and parcel of hiring a new coach, particularly one as no-nonsense as Tudor is.

The reality of the situation is that Tottenham is dire. The Athletic didn't sugarcoat it, but fans already knew it. Tottenham is the latest club to turn to Igor Tudor when they are on a cliff edge, and that's a good thing.

Owners are known to be out of touch with reality. Every sports fan, no matter their club or sport, can agree with that. However, the Tottenham owners have approached this hire with subjectivity, looking at the situation right now. Igor Tudor was a great hire, and hopefully we won't be eating our words.
