Igor Tudor may have already solved Tottenham’s biggest flaw

But let's be honest, he's still got a mountain to climb.

Igor Tudor coming into Tottenham is a move that benefits all parties. Tudor is able to scratch that competitive itch by taking control of a club at ground-level, and Tottenham can finally watch soccer under a coach that doesn't prioritize wingers.

Ever since the start of this season, Tottenham has tried (and failed) to implement a strong wide presence. Their wingers, the likes of Richarlison, Wilson Odobert and Mohammed Kudus have all been injured for chunks of this season. Without a shadow of a doubt, the lack of wide presence has been Tottenham's biggest flaw this season.

Thankfully, the flanks were the last positions Igor Tudor was looking to spotlight.

Igor Tudor alleviated a Tottenham concern without lifting a finger

Under Igor Tudor, traditional wingers cease to exist. Most of his wide setup comes from two hard-working wing-backs, while the quote-unquote wingers are pulled much more centrally to support the center forward.

This immediately alleviates a huge problem at Tottenham. Their good wide options are out of luck right now, but that won't hinder Igor Tudor in the slightest in the early days.

Tudor has proven to be adaptable, and he is more than able to adjust his setup based on the team he's coaching. However, if given the choice, he will play with a three-at-the-back formation. In fact, you could count on one hand the number of times he's played with a back four in recent years.

This, by its very nature, alleviates the strain on Tottenham's wingers. If anything, wingers sticking wide would be a hindrance in this system, as it wouldn't allow the wing-backs enough space to steal the show.

In an Igor Tudor system, 'wide' attackers are not necessarily wide players. They are left and right of center, but they are not wide, nor are they expected to drift out wide.

This massively benefits players like Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus, who will lap up any opportunity they can get to cut inside when they're both fit.

Tottenham's hiring of Igor Tudor was as strategic as possible. His tactical setup was likely a big talking point in the hiring discussions.

However, we must always be cautious when talking about Tottenham tentatively. They could have the best steak in the world, and they'd overcook it.

Fans obviously hope that Igor Tudor is successful, but we'll reserve judgement until we've seen more of him.

One thing we can say, though, is that it will be a huge relief for the fanbase to watch a well-structured attack that plays into the individual strengths of Tottenham's best players (for a change).
