It is no secret that Spanish giants Real Madrid have an interest in Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro. With Dani Carvajal’s recent ACL injury, and Porro’s performances for the Spain national team in his absence, it is likely that that interest has only increased further.

Luckily for Spurs, Madrid’s interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold is maybe the worst kept secret in all of football, and it seems that he is their priority signing, even if Porro is on their shortlist of right-backs. With Alexander-Arnold’s current contract expiring in the summer, they will be allowed to speak to the 26-year old from January onwards.

In any case, this interest from Porro has incentivised the club into trying to persuade Porro to sign a long term deal – as per TBR Football. They report that Spurs are trying to tie Porro down to a new long-term contract – with his current deal expiring in 2028.

They report that Madrid are also interested in Reece James, Jeremie Frimpong, and Juanlu. That said, James is *never* fit, and Frimpong is not a right-back, which potentially very much narrows it down.

This report in general should come with a pinch of salt, given they state that Jose Mourinho was not able to get the best out of Porro. Indeed, the same Mourinho that left nearly two years before Porro joined the club.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold’s ability, status in football, and the fact his contract is expiring – it does check out that he will be Madrid’s priority. However, there is of course the possibility that he does extend his contract, in which case you would have to assume he would not be a viable transfer, and thus Los Blancos would look at the likes of Porro.

Given that the Spurs right-back will still have three years on his contract in the summer, even if he doesn’t extend, it does mean there is no immediate reason to sell. Florentino Perez could come across Daniel Levy at his peak with this one.
