In the early kick offs in the Championship on Saturday afternoon, there were games for Tottenham Hotspur loanees - with both Dane Scarlett's Oxford United, and Ashley Phillips' Stoke City in action. Oxford were at home to Swansea City, whilst Stoke hosted Derby County.

Having started each of Oxford's last two games, Scarlett was back on the bench for this game, with Mark Harris leading the line for the U's. Des Buckingham's side fell behind on 38 mins, and whilst struggling to get back into the game, introduced Scarlett for Harris just before the hour mark.

Oxford would concede a second goal after 80 minutes. However, with two minutes of normal time remaining - Scarlett would get his third goal in four games. Receiving the ball just inside the box, the striker set himself, before firing a left footed shot across goal and into the bottom corner.

It would not be enough to preserve Oxford's unbeaten home record, however, as they were condemned to a 2-1 defeat. This defeat leaves them in 19th place in the Championship, with 14 points from 13 games. Scarlett now has three goals in 276 Championship minutes so far this season - a goal every 92 minutes. All from an xG of 0.45, too.

Meanwhile, Phillips was named in the Stoke starting XI for the third game in a row, the first time he has done so in a Stoke shirt. This was despite a move from a three at the back to a flat back four. It was the perfect start for the Potters, taking the lead after nine minutes, but they were pegged back after 68 minutes. After 82 minutes, Phillips' central defensive partner, Ben Gibson, put Stoke back in front. 2-1.

That goal would be enough to secure a much needed three points for Stoke, who are now sat in 16th place, with 15 points from their 13 games, giving them breathing room ahead of the chasing pack at the foot of the Championship table.

Next up for Oxford and Scarlett is a midweek game, as they host Hull City in the Championship on Tuesday night, with a 19:45 GMT kick off., as they look to bounce back from this disappointment. As for Stoke and Phillips, it is also a midweek game, as they travel to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night, with that one also being a 19:45 GMT kick off, as they try to build on today's win. Phillips will be going back to the club that he spent six years at.
