According to the Portuguese publication, O Jogo (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of clubs interested in teenager Roger Fernandes from SC Braga. As well as Spurs, the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax have also registered interest in the teenager. Newcastle, in particular, are said to be long term admirers.

The 18-year old was born in Guinea-Bissau, but moved to Portugal at a young age and remains eligible for the Portuguese national team, with reports that he is being considered by current manager Roberto Martinez for a call-up to the senior team, despite his young age.

Fernandes has already played 16 times for Braga so far this season, with eight of those appearances coming in the Europa League, with the Portuguese side coming through three rounds of qualification to make it to the competition itself, where they currently sit 20th with three points from their opening two games so far. They will not meet Spurs in the league phase, but will play against Roma, Elfsborg, and Hoffenheim - all opponents that Ange Postecoglu's side will also play.

Last weekend, Fernandes scored an equaliser against FC Porto in the league, though it was not to be enough as the hosts ran out 2-1 winners in the end. Braga currently sit in fifth place in the Liga Portugal, ten points behind current leaders Sporting CP, who are yet to drop a point.

At just 5'7, Fernandes is a very nimble and agile winger who possesses great pace. He likes to cut inside onto his favoured left foot from the right hand side. He has a contract with the Portuguese side until 2028, so there is no immediate need to sell from their point of view unless a serious bid does come in.
