Son Heung-min has endured perhaps the most frustrating season of his 10-year stay at Tottenham Hotspur. The usually prolific South Korean attacker has failed to replicate the form of past years that has made him a fan favorite.
The 32-year-old has been with Spurs through plenty of highs and plenty of lows, but could finish the campaign by making history. Ange Postecoglou's men are in the final of the Europa League and face Manchester United on May 21.
Should the Lilywhites prevail, it would be an enormous achievement for the North London giants. Son is desperate to ensure that's the case and to accomplish something his former teammate Harry Kane failed to do with the club.
Son Heung-min's lust for silverware 'biggest reason' he stayed

Son spoke ahead of Tottenham's final at San Mames in Bilbao, Spain next week. He explained how much it would mean to captain his side to glory: "The biggest reason I stayed at Tottenham was because I wanted to do something others couldn’t achieve. That’s probably why I’m where I am now. You need all the pieces to complete a puzzle."
The closest the 133-cap South Korea international has come to winning a trophy at Spurs came in 2019. He was a member of Mauricio Pochettino's side that made it to the Champions League final but suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool.
Kane was thriving at the time and laying claim to being the deadliest striker in Europe. But as the trophies failed to arrive in North London he opted to depart, joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 where he's won the Bundesliga title this season.
Son on watching "best friend" Harry Kane win Bundesliga
Son and Kane formed one of the best partnerships not only in Spurs' history but that the Premier League has ever seen. They put up 47 combined goals including 21 times during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
The England captain is flourishing in Munich following an initial £82m move, firing the Bavarians to Bundesliga glory. He won the European Golden Boot last season, and his former teammate was one of the first to congratulate him on his success:
“I was really happy to see him happy,. He is one of my best friends and to see a once team-mate achieve so much, I was delighted for him like he's my family."
There can be no doubts that Kane will be an avid viewer of the Europa League and be cheering Spurs on against United. He became the club's all-time record goalscorer during his time with the Lilywhites, managing 280 goals.
