Manor Solomon might have thought that he could get a chance under Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham Hotspur. However, the Spurs boss has told him that he is surplus to requirements.
football.london has reported, "Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi has told Manor Solomon that he is not part of his plans for the season ahead and that he can leave the club."
Solomon played for De Zerbi at Shakhtar Donetsk. In 26 games for the Ukrainian side, under the Italian Solomon scored four times with two assists in 26 matches. However, the Premier League is a big step up from soccer in Ukraine.
The Israeli initially impressed in the Premier League on loan at Fulham from Shakhtar. This led to Tottenham signing him permanently. However, he played just six times in total for Spurs. He impressed in a 5-2 win over Burnley, where he got two assists. Unfortunately, soon after that game, Solomon suffered a meniscus injury.
A loan to Leeds United in the Championship helped Solomon rebuild his reputation. He scored 10 goals with 12 assists in 39 games as Leeds won the division in the 2024/25 season.
Manor Solomon is becoming a journeyman
In the last campaign, he was sent on loan to Villarreal, but played just six times in La Liga before being recalled. Spurs then loaned him to Fiorentina. He did better in Serie A, scoring twice and making one assist in 16 games. However, his stint in Italy was disrupted by a thigh injury.
It remains to be seen if Fiorentina would want him permanently. He is a versatile player who can play left or right wing, as well as in an attacking midfield role. His main position is on the left wing, where Spurs have Wilson Odobert. Mathys Tel can also play on the left, and Spurs have also been linked with bringing in Savinho from Manchester City.
Solomon faces an uncertain future. A drop down to the Championship could be a good move for him. Possibly, West Ham United might be an option. They are expected to lose Crysencio Summerville and possibly Jarrod Bowen, too, after being relegated.
There is often not much business done between Spurs and the Hammer due to the rivalry between the two clubs. However, Mohamed Kudus did make the switch last season, which was the first time a player had crossed the divide since Scott Parker back in 2011. Solomon rebuilt his reputation in English soccer's second tier with Leeds and could do so again.
