It had looked like Richarlison would not play for Tottenham Hotspur again after he was left out of the club's 25-man Premier League squad. However, he is still eligible for EFL Cup matches, so he could theoretically play against Liverpool tomorrow night.

The chances of this are slim, as the Brazilian wanted to leave Tottenham over the summer. A transfer to Everton fell through, and moves to Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama did not come to fruition.

Spurs spent £329 million over the summer, which included signing striker Omar Marmoush from Manchester City. However, Roberto De Zerbi's side are yet to score in any of their opening four Premier League games.

Tottenham finished 17th in the last two Premier League seasons and narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the last campaign. With the money spent, it was expected that De Zerbi would lead the club back to challenging for Europe. However, it is more looking like it will be another season battling to stay in the division.

These are desperate times for Spurs, which could lead to De Zerbi picking Richarlison. Marmoush has been poor in his three games for Tottenham so far. The club's other striker is Dominic Solanke, who scored in the 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic in the previous round of the EFL Cup. He has also featured in all four of Tottenham's Premier League games.

It would be a statement to Marmoush and Solanke if De Zerbi were to play Richarlison. However, given that the Brazilian would not be able to feature for them in the Premier League, it might be a bit of a pointless exercise.

He is a former Everton player, so the fixture against Liverpool would be significant. Richarlison also has a very good record against Liverpool. Therefore, it may be worth a punt to play him against the Reds.

Richarlison has a total record of six goals and three assists in 18 games against Liverpool. All of these goal contributions came in Premier League fixtures, which totaled 16.

The Brazilian performed well for De Zerbi last season, scoring two goals with one assist in six Premier League games. This included setting up João Palhinha's winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers and scoring the winner against Aston Villa. These results were crucial to Tottenham keeping their Premier League status. It was a shame about the events that unfolded over the summer for the player. However, Spurs may need the Brazilian once more.
