We already know the fastest players in the Premier League, and the speedster at the top of the list plays for Tottenham Hotspur.

Last Friday, BBC Sport unveiled the name of the fastest player in the Premier League for the current season, and it’s none other than Tottenham's Micky van de Ven.

The Dutch centre-back has taken the league by storm with his incredible speed, clocking in at a remarkable 37.1 km/h.

This impressive feat comes on the heels of his record-setting performances during Euro 2024, where he was already recognised as the tournament's fastest player.

Behind Van de Ven is Wolves' Carlos Forbs, who has reached a top speed of 36.6 km/h. Following closely are Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest at 35.9 km/h, Erling Haaland of Manchester City at 35.7 km/h, Gabriel Martinelli from Arsenal at 35.6 km/h, and Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United at 35.5 km/h.

Interestingly, the player with the most sprints in the league this season is Newcastle's Anthony Gordon, boasting an impressive 187 sprints.

Revealed: Tottenham boasts the fastest player in the Premier League

Speedy players in the Premier League often bring to mind names like Adama Traore and Kyle Walker.

However, it’s worth noting that neither of them holds the title for the fastest player at their respective clubs. Van de Ven not only reigns supreme at Spurs but also stands tall as the fastest player in the entire league.

The Dutchman previously registered the highest speed since Premier League records began, reaching 37.38 km/h in a match against Brentford last January.

While he hasn’t quite reached that remarkable height this season, his current speed still surpasses all competitors in the top flight.

Outpacing Traore at Fulham is the dynamic full-back Antonee Robinson, while Haaland continues to astonish with his combination of speed and strength at Manchester City.

A new name making waves this season is Wolves' winger Carlos Forbs, currently on loan from Ajax, who has quickly demonstrated his blistering pace, coming in second only to Van de Ven.

The fastest players in the Premier League according to BBC and Opta data reflect the incredible talent across all clubs, with Van de Ven leading the pack.
