Report: Real Madrid eye another Tottenham superstar following Cristian Romero links
By Manuel Meza
Real Madrid have recently been linked with Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, and now they reportedly have their sights set on another Spurs superstar.
Tottenham will need to be cautious in upcoming transfer windows, as their players are attracting the attention of multiple top European clubs with significant financial power.
In fact, just a few weeks ago, Cristian Romero was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Some reports suggested that Los Blancos would attempt to sign the Argentine centre-back in future transfer windows, although his contract with Spurs runs until June 2027.
However, it was also said that Tottenham would only be willing to negotiate starting from £100 million, a figure that would likely deter Florentino Perez’s side entirely. For now, there have been no further developments on this, but a new rumour has emerged linking another defensive superstar from Spurs with Real Madrid.

According to a recent report from Defensa Central (h/t Fichajes), Real Madrid's chief scout, Juni Calafat, has recommended the signing of centre-back Micky van de Ven.
The cited outlet details that the most successful club in Champions League history will keep an eye on the progression of the 23-year-old Dutch centre-back. They also mention interest in Romero, but emphasise that Tottenham have no intention of letting either of their defensive stars leave.
At the moment, Real Madrid's centre-back options include Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Jesus Vallejo. With Alaba unavailable and doubts surrounding Vallejo, it’s understandable that Los Blancos are thinking ahead and keeping an eye on potential opportunities in the market. The issue here is that neither Romero nor Van de Ven are on the market.
It’s completely normal for these kinds of reports to emerge, especially given that Tottenham currently boast one of the best centre-back partnerships in the world. However, with both players under contract, it’s difficult and unnecessary to speculate about their potential departures at this point.
