On Wednesday evening, Spurs hosted Manchester City for game week 27 of the current Premier League season.

For the task at hand, Ange opted for a line up of; Vicario; Porro, Danso, Gray, Udogie; Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Tel, Odobert.

How things happened when Spurs hosted Manchester City on Wednesday

The first chance of the game came after seven minutes, when Matheus Nunes was able to get a cross in from the right — fortunately the ball was behind Erling Haaland, and he was unable to direct the ball either side of Vicario.

After 12 minutes, City took the lead. From a Jeremy Doku ball across, Haaland was there to slot into the bottom corner. Very slack defending from Spurs.

Eight minutes later, Spurs could not get a foot in to stop Doku going on a run, with his right footed effort having to be beaten away by Vicario. A really awful start from Spurs.

27 minutes in, Spurs got away with murder. A cross from Doku down the left found Savio, unmarked inside the box, inexplicably firing over the bar. Just three minutes later, Haaland had another huge chance, but this time Vicario saved the shot with his legs.

On the half hour mark, Bentancur was shown a booking for a foul on Savio.

With seconds of the first half remaining, Spurs had their first chance of the game, but Danso’s header was tipped over by Ederson.

Ten minutes into the second half, a fizzed in cross by Porro found Odobert at the far post, but he could not slide the ball home. Harder than it looks, but should have scored. Soon after, Maddison was in the book.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Udogie did really well to win the ball to drive forward, but his pass couldn’t quite find its way into Tel’s path, and it went behind for a goal kick

Straight away, — Spence, Sarr, Kulusevski and Son replaced Udogie, Bentancur, Odobert and Tel in a quadruple change.

Minutes later, good work from Son and Spence down the left lead to the latter cutting the ball back for Sarr, but he sliced his effort when well placed.

With nine minutes remaining, Werner replaced Maddison. Weird sub. Sure, Kulusevski did most of the work, but Scarlett registered an assist off the bench vs Ipswich, showing great aerial ability. He’s actually a striker too, unlike Werner.

There were six minutes remaining when Johnson’s low cross from the right was met by Son, whose low effort was well kept out by Ederson down to his left. Two minures later, Sarr was booked for shoving Foden.

In stoppage time, Haaland had a goal disallowed for a handball. Straight down the other end, Sarr missed a big chance to equalise. What a dramatic moment that would have been — shame.
