Luka Modric speaks about Premier League return
As far as Tottenham legends go, not many have had quite the remarkable career which Luka Modric has had. The Croatian international who originally made a name for himself in North London has won an impressive five Champions League titles, three La Liga trophies and the Ballon d'Or. Oh, he also helped his country to the World Cup final.
Tottenham fans have certainly never forgotten about Modric but has Modric forgotten about Tottenham? Well, apparently not.
As per a report published by The Real Champs, Luka Modric has revealed that he still keeps up with Tottenham matches. When asked about potentially returning to Premier League, Modric said: "It will be difficult at my age, but you never know.”
Speaking about his time with Tottenham, Modric said: "I can only say great things about Harry [Redknapp]. He is a great coach but what impressed me even more is how he is as a person - a phenomenal man. He helped me a lot while I was at Tottenham until I left. I am forever grateful and I have happy memories working with him.”
Needless to say, it would be a dream come true to see Modric finish his career at Tottenham, should Ange Postecoglou be willing to return the club legend to his true home. Of course, the interest from Spurs is yet to be reported, though.
Giovani Lo Celso wanted by his old club
One player who is linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer is Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentinian is wanted by his former club Real Betis, as per Estadio Deportivo. Hotspur HQ already revealed that Tottenham were considering selling Lo Celso, who has fallen out of favour under Ange Postecoglou this season.
Spurs will sign a midfielder and a centre back, says Fabrizio Romano
When it comes to transfer sources, not many can boast reliability quite like Fabrizio Romano. The Italian sports journalist is one of the best in the business and he has spoken out about what he expects Tottenham to do in the summer.
In his own words (as per Give Me Sport), Romano said: "I think it’s a possibility for Tottenham to move on different positions. Centre-back is a possibility. Midfield is something that they want to cover in the summer transfer window."
It goes without saying that Tottenham need to sign some greater defensive coverage in the summer transfer window. They have conceded a whopping 49 Premier League goals, which is simply not acceptable for a club who wishes to play in the Champions League next season.
Also, midfield cover is important but for different reasons to underperformance. Instead, I assume the expected departures are at the back of Postecoglou's mind here.
