In yesterday's Tottenham transfer news, it was revealed that Ange Postecoglou planned to bring in a new midfielder in the summer transfer window, with a few different options being assessed. But what does it mean for the current crop of midfielders? Well, for one of them, it will surely be the end of their tenure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham transfer news as Ange Postecoglou will finally sell struggling midfielder

According to a report from Football Insider, the struggling midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may be sold in the summer to raise some funds for Tottenham's transfer plans. It is thought that he won't be short of options, particularly in Italy where Serie A teams are lining up to sign him.

Tottenham have attempted to sell Hojbjerg in the past few transfer windows, but they have had a tough time since they couldn't find any team willing to bring him in permanently. A loan transfer does not work for Tottenham, so they will listen to reasonable transfer offers.

It is stated within the report that Tottenham value the midfielder at around £15m-£18m, so offers in this region are likely to be accepted by Tottenham.

I must say, signing Hojbjerg for as little as £15m is a no-brainer. Last season, he was one of Tottenham's best players as he is a great box-to-box midfielder with impeccable technical ability and creativity.

He does not fit in at Tottenham and he has fallen further down the pecking order this season under Ange Postecoglou but this does not reflect his ability at all. In fact, he still plays many games for Spurs, just not as a starter. According to WhoScored, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has made 6 Premier League starts for Spurs this season but he has come off the bench a generous 18 times.
