Things are looking bright at Tottenham Hotspur currently. They have time to rest as they are out of action this weekend, meaning they are best placed to reignite their push for the top four between now and the end of the season. If today's Tottenham transfer news is anything to go by, then Ange Postecoglou does not plan to stop anytime soon.

Tottenham transfer news as Ange Postecoglou eyes ideal Conor Gallagher alternative

According to a report from The Telegraph, Tottenham will reignite their interest in Conor Gallagher and attempt to sign him in the summer transfer window if he does not extend his current contract. Currently, he is running closer to the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge and it is still up in the air whether he signs a new one or not.

Certainly, Spurs would be in a better place to convince Gallagher in the summer if they qualify for the Champions League. Obtaining Champions League football AND having Ange Postecoglou at the helm are two amazing pull factors. At the moment, Chelsea only have push factors.

But what happens if Conor Gallagher extends his contract with Chelsea? Well, fear not Tottenham fans, Ange Postecoglou has a back-up plan.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Tottenham have shortlisted James Garner of Everton if their pursuit of Conor Gallagher falls through. Garner has been making serious strides in the Premier League this season and the second-half of last campaign.

He is the ideal Ange Postecoglou player midfielder who plays with purpose and energy. He is often in the right place at the right time and doesn't mind getting stuck in with tasks that other players may purposely avoid.

We must not forget that Lucas Bergvall is joining the club in the summer. Therefore, Spurs may already have their Conor Gallagher alternative lined up. Still, fans wouldn't complain about ANOTHER exceptional midfielder joining them.
