"The expectation is for Spurs to be very busy", Fabrizio Romano told the publication Caught Offside. He didn't mention specific names, but you can imagine the likes of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Ben Davies, Emerson Royal, and Giovani Lo Celso will be amongst the biggest names likely to depart North London this summer.

Players loaned out such as Joe Rodn, Djed Spence, Sergio Reguilon, Tanguy Ndombele and Japhet Tanganga are also not part of Ange's plans, as per Dan Kilpatrick.

Given the way Spurs operate, these outgoings will be important in terms of funding incoming signings. Funds will have to be raised if Ange Postecoglu is going to bring in all of his targets so getting rid of deadwood will be huge.

Of course, you have to find suitors. It's all good wanting rid, and the player reciprocating those thoughts, but it's all in vain if you can't find a buyer, or at least a buyer not willing to pay the price.

If the Saudi Pro League goes on another spending spree akin to last summer, that could be extremely handy for Spurs as they look to get players off the books.

Failing to shift deadwood has set Spurs back on several occasions in the past. Several players unable to make consistent contributions have spent several years at the club, often picking up a handsome wage.

A successful rebuild cannot be done with unwanted players lingering around the place like a bad smell. Spurs must have a big summer turnover if they are to compete next season.
