Tottenham to battle Chelsea, Arsenal for PSG-linked player, report claims
Tottenham are reportedly in a London battle with Chelsea and Arsenal to sign a young player also linked with PSG.
Portuguese centre-back Tomas Araujo has caught the attention of some of the Premier League's biggest clubs after an impressive start to the season. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham are reportedly tracking the 21-year-old as they look to bolster their defensive ranks.
With the Premier League's top clubs already planning future reinforcements, it’s no surprise that a young talent like Araujo, despite Benfica's somewhat shaky start to the season, has sparked interest.
Currently third in the Primeira Liga and trailing Sporting CP by five points, Benfica have had an inconsistent campaign. However, Araujo has managed to break into the starting XI, proving himself as one of the brightest defensive prospects in Portuguese football.

According to CaughtOffside (h/t Fichajes), Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham are all monitoring Araujo's progress closely. None of these clubs, per the report, are entirely satisfied with their defensive options and are considering strengthening their backline when the winter transfer window opens.
Araujo is under contract with Benfica until June 2028, and any move for the Famalicao-born player would require a tough negotiation.
Benfica, known for being shrewd negotiators, are reportedly demanding over €20 million for the Portugal U21 international, who has already earned 10 caps for his country at youth level.
In addition to the Premier League interest, Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the young defender, further increasing the competition for his signature. With Araujo’s stock rising, it looks like Benfica could have a battle on their hands to keep hold of their latest defensive starlet.
At the moment, Tottenham are enjoying having one of the best defensive partnerships in the world with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. However, the interest in Tomas Araujo is likely with an eye on the future.
The Benfica youngster is one of the top prospects in his position, and this is evident by the interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. While strengthening the defence may not be a priority for Spurs right now, it’s exciting to see them competing for this type of players.
