According to information from The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur is in a better position to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, as Manchester City has reportedly withdrawn from the race.

Previous reports suggested that Spurs would pursue Eberechi Eze, a 26-year-old left winger who plays for their London rivals, Crystal Palace. However, the operation seemed complicated due to Manchester City's interest.

The current Premier League champions were reportedly interested in activating the player's release clause, set at around £60m. The existence of this clause has been confirmed by The Athletic.

However, according to the same source, Manchester City no longer intends to pay that amount for Eze, which would leave a 'clear path' for Tottenham in the race for the versatile English winger.

Other offensive players who have been linked to Tottenham include Désiré Doué from Rennes, Jonathan David from LOSC Lille, Lois Openda from RB Leipzig, and more recently Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton.

Eberechi Eze scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in 27 matches during the 2023-2024 season with Crystal Palace in the Premier League. This means that the 26-year-old winger is proven in the context where he would need to shine with the Spurs, there is no doubt about that.

We will have to wait to know for sure how much Tottenham intends to spend that significant amount of money on a single player, especially considering the various objectives that Ange Postecoglou's team has for the rest of the transfer window.
