Tottenham's Emerson Royal closing on move away
By Tom Vinall
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Tottenham's Emerson Royal’s move to Italian giants AC Milan is in the final stages of completion.
The Italian publication states that Milan are ready to spend “€18-20m” to sign him, and Spurs could “ultimately accept” [Spurs had reportedly wanted more].
Royal has most certainly divided opinion during his three years at Spurs but ultimately wasn’t close to what the fans had been hoping for when he arrived.
The Brazilian full-back clearly lacks qualities going forward in particular, so was set up to fail with the amount of games where he was played as a wing-back.
The infamous no-look pass, straight out of play, when Spurs needed a goal in their Champions League group fixture at home to Sporting CP will live long in the memories for all the wrong reasons.

When it rains it pours for Royal, as his last-gasp assist to make amends for Harry Kane was ruled out by VAR for the barest of margins.
Royal started in Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Brentford on opening day, and even scored, but found game time hard to come by after that, only starting a further 10 Premier League games (SofaScore).
Furthermore, the majority of those starts were enforced, having to fill in at center-back during the height of the Spurs' injury crisis.
It is clearly best for both parties to move on this summer, Spurs can get some funds for an unwanted player, and Royal can (hopefully) get some game time over in Italy.
