Tottenham players who should be excited for the Europa League campaign
By Tom Vinall
Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League campaign kicks off next week as they welcome Azerbaijani side Qarabag to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Thursday. Let's take a look at which players in particular could use this as a chance to get regular minutes.
Tottenham players who should be excited for the Europa League campaign
Brandon Austin
Brandon Austin will surely be looking at an opportunity. Ange Postecoglu has selected four goalkeepers for the competition, which has made the omission of Djed Spence a hot topic within the fanbase. In any case, the fact four goalkeepers have been selected means he will surely be looking to give Vicario some nights off, in particular against the weaker sides that Spurs will face.
With Fraser Forster's disappointing performance against Coventry City in the Carabao Cup, Brandon Austin will be seeing this as a chance to get some games under his belt, having signed a new contract with the club over the summer.
Radu Dragusin
Radu Dragusin has had to be patient for a chance at Spurs so far, and will be seeing this competition as a chance to get regular starts and give Ange a selection headache. Cristian Romero has looked pretty jaded at times this season, and this is the perfect opportunity to give him a rest and give Dragusin the keys.
Archie Gray
Archie Gray hasn't had as many minutes as he would have liked so far this season, although there is no doubt his chance in the Premier League will come. In the meantime, the Europa League provides the perfect base for the youngster to get up to match sharpness. Whether it is in midfield, or at right-back to give Porro some rest, you can be quite confident Gray will be a regular starter in the competition.
Lucas Bergvall
Lucas Bergvall has a great opportunity to give Ange a serious selection dilemma in this competition. He has shown glimpses in his cameos so far and was called up to the Sweden senior national team over the last international break. It will be a great opportunity for the 18-year-old to start games and get 70+ minutes to show what he can do each time.
Mikey Moore
Mikey Moore got minutes in pre-season but has not had any so far in the regular season. With Timo Werner's non-existent form, there is no excuse for Ange not to start giving Moore minutes in the Europa League, particularly in the games against Qarabag, Ferencvaros, and Elfsborg.
Will Lankshear
Will Lankshear has risen up the pecking order at Spurs and appears to be the third-choice striker behind Dominic Solanke and Richarlison. With the latter's injury record, Lankshear's progression could be fast-tracked too. This is not to say he will become a guaranteed starter in the competition, but some minutes here and there should not be unrealistic.
