Tottenham sealed the most underrated summer transfer window deal

After a successful few months, the summer transfer window is now a distant memory for Ange Postecoglou. But, he can feel content with Tottenham pulling off the most underrated deal.
For a summer transfer window recap, Tottenham brought in five players; Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall & Min-hyeok Yang.
Tottenham also sold ten players; Oliver Skipp, Emerson Royal, Joe Rodon, Giovani Lo Celso, Pierre Emile Hojberg (loan), Bryan Gil (loan), Manor Solomon (loan), Alejo Veliz (loan), Ashley Phillips (loan) & Dane Scarlett (loan).
But on the transfer deadline day, there was one piece of incredibly underrated business which Tottenham orchestrated and it involved the long awaited sale of Giovani Lo Celso to his former club Real Betis.
Tottenham sealed the most underrated summer transfer window deal
In case you missed it, Tottenham have agreed a deal with Real Betis for their player Johnny Cardoso. According to Mirror, Tottenham have secured a "first dibs" clause with Real Betis, meaning they will skip the queue to sign Cardoso should they wish in the future.
At worst, if Tottenham do not sign Johnny Cardoso, they will receive a sell-on fee, paid by Real Betis, on the occasion he is sold to a club other than Tottenham.
It truly is a win-win situation for Tottenham and one which will, at best, grant them a future signing and, at worst, inject some unanticipated cash into their transfer kitty.
Johnny Cardoso is a 22-year-old USMNT representative. He has received 15 senior caps for the USA men's team and he is considered a prodigy for the future.
Already making 19 La Liga appearances for Real Betis this calendar year, it is difficult to imagine Tottenham not taking up their option to sign him.
Granted, this deal is unorthodox. It is not the type of deal you see happen in every summer transfer window. However, it should not be overlooked and it is an example of Daniel Levy and co future-proofing Tottenham.
