Tottenham linked to Manchester United midfielder

Duncan Castles has reported that Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay.
The English-born Scottish international has one year remaining on his existing contract at Old Trafford, and therefore United could look to cash in instead of risking losing him for free next summer.
Whilst Duncan Castles has been hit and miss in the past, this report checks out with a report from The Athletic, who suggest that Spurs are targeting dynamism and legs in midfield, who also has goalscoring ability.
For any flaws, it can't be denied that McTominay ticks the above boxes. With another midfield target Conor Gallagher looking like he could be on his way to Spain, Spurs might turn their attention to securing the services of McTominay instead.
McTominay scored 7 goals in 8 European Championship qualifying games for Scotland, including a brace against the soon-to-be European Champions Spain, in a 2-0 victory. He also scored against Switzerland at the finals.

The midfielder started just eighteen Premier League games for United last summer but managed to muster an impressive 7 goals in that time - including winners against Brentford, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. He scored 2 more goals in other competitions.
There is no doubt that McTominay's aerial presence could be used in both boxes. Spurs struggled badly defending set-pieces last season and McTominay, who stands at 6'4 would be a big help towards negating those issues.
Fulham have reportedly submitted a bid of £23m for McTominay, so we can assume that the Scottish international would cost at least that amount. Whether Spurs are willing, or should, pay that for a player with one year left on his contract remains to be seen.
McTominay is not a flashy player and certainly has his flaws, like most players, but he would add a homegrown option with a unique profile for Ange Postecoglu's team.
