Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for FC Barcelona's Andreas Christensen as the transfer window nears its end, according to Sport.

The 28-year-old Danish defender has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Manchester United also keen on securing his services.

This comes as FC Barcelona are trying to lighten their financial load by offloading players, with Christensen being a likely candidate for a summer departure.

Christensen's possible Premier League return is getting Tottenham fans talking, as they see him as a solid boost to their defence.

The Danish international, who previously played for Chelsea, has proven his quality in England’s top tier, and his familiarity with the league would allow him to make an immediate impact at Spurs.

Tottenham currently have a solid core of central defenders, but adding a player of Christensen's caliber could provide the depth and reliability needed to push for higher goals this season.

Tottenham already have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Eric Dier, so adding Christensen could really round out their defence, bringing in more experience, skill, and a cool head under pressure.

Barcelona’s willingness to sell Christensen stems from their need to reduce their wage bill, a move necessary due to the club's ongoing financial difficulties.

Reports from Spanish media suggest that Barcelona are open to parting ways with either Christensen or Eric García, another young talent in their squad.

However, Tottenham will face stiff competition from Manchester United, who are also in the market for defensive reinforcements.

Despite having already signed Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, United’s shaky defensive record from last season, where they conceded 58 goals, has prompted them to consider additional options.

The Red Devils are reportedly eager to bring in another centre-back to shore up their backline, making the race for Christensen's signature even more competitive.

Tottenham have also been linked with a potential move for a midfielder, but it seems we’ll have to wait until the transfer window closes to know for certain what the Spurs' plans are.
