Tottenham interested in signing former Man United midfielder

Tottenham are yet to play Man United in the 2024/25 Premier League season but Ange Postecoglou is clearly getting Man United fever, since he's become interested in signing their former player.
Tottenham Hotspur had a busy 2024 summer transfer window. They strengthened in key areas of the pitch and they saw a few deadwood players leave the club. Most notably, their midfield underwent a serious reshuffle with the hopes of solidifying it for the future.
Hopefully, then, the results will fall into place for Ange Postecoglou. After all, Tottenham have picked up just one win all season so far.
However, the Aussie manager is thinking two steps ahead. In case he needs to, Postecoglou is already planning for future transfers.
One player who has entered Spurs' radar is a player with Premier League experience.
Tottenham interested in signing former Man United midfielder
According to a report from The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from Newcastle United as both sides are interested in signing former Man United midfielder Angel Gomes.
Angel Gomes was recently selected for international duty with England. It came as a surprise, since many are unaware of the fine midfield work he's been producing since joining Lille in 2020.
Now, he is on the radar of Ange Postecoglou, who envisions a midfield with the 24-year-old London-born talent.
Angel Gomes was unsuccessful in his last Premier League spell, despite setting a high ceiling for himself at Man United. However, he should not be blamed for Man United's shortcomings and in many ways, the Red Devils probably regret moving him on.
At the age of 16 years old, Angel Gomes made his Premier League debut for Man United. This makes him the youngest player to ever make a Premier League appearance for Man United.
Gomes is a midfielder by trade but in truth, this should be taken with a pinch of salt. His versatility allows him to play in a few different positions, whether they be advanced or deeper-lying.
Gomes is a great technician. He isn't the kind of player to dive into challenges or put his body on the line but he can get Tottenham out of sticky situations in other ways.
Considering Tottenham have seen some brute midfielders in their time, including Dembele and Dier to name just two, signing Gomes may take some getting used to. However, he has an incredibly high ceiling and there aren't many better midfielders with the ball at their feet.
