The ever-reliable Alasdair Gold has confirmed that Spurs are “strongly interested” in highly-rated Leeds United youngster Archie Gray.

Gray featured in 44 regular season games for the West Yorkshire outfit, starting 40.

Gray was also trusted to play all 270 minutes of Leeds United’s play-off campaign, where they fell at the last hurdle to fellow newly relegated side Southampton.

Gray is just 18 years old and was even just 17 for most of the season, having turned 18 in March.

Naturally a central midfielder, Gray was trusted to play at Right-Back for large parts of the season, despite the acquisition of Connor Roberts from Burnley in January.

But midfield is where most people see him excelling long-term. His versatility will help him attract more suitors, but like with most players, nailing down a position and perfecting it will be best for his career in the long run.

Gray made his England U21 debut in March against Azerbaijan, just 10 days after his 18th birthday, and jumped straight from the U19 setup. He scored in a 10-minute cameo. In his next game, his full debut, he played 61 minutes and provided an assist vs Luxembourg.

Gray is reported to have a lot of interest from elsewhere, so it’ll be a tough one to get done.

In addition, he has four years remaining on his current Leeds United deal, so they have no reason to sell him for a penny less than what they believe he is worth.
