According to Paul O Keefe, Tottenham are in negotiations for Gangwon FC Winger Min-Hyeok Yang.

Yang was born in 2006 and has been called up to the K-League All stars, who will face Spurs on the 31st this month.

It will be interesting to see if any potential deal will be done before or after that game, and which side Yang may feature for. There is the possibility that this is a conscious deal, and the timing is very deliberate in order to raise commercial awareness to the game.

Furthermore, with these deals for young players, it is not uncommon for the player to be immediately loaned back to the selling club, to get regular games for their development before eventually joining their new club as a better and more experienced player. Therefore, Yang could still feature in the game for the K-League All starts, despite potentially already being a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Spurs already have a big fanbase in South Korea, for obvious reasons, and this will only increase their commercial popularity over in East Asia, if that is actually still possible. Yang could play for Spurs at some point with Son, who is likely to be Yang's idol given his youthfulness. Although, of course, if he does spend a couple of years out on loan, he might just miss playing with Son at Spurs (god forbid).

It does feel like a left-field signing, a bit out of the blue and a bit random, but Spurs have missed the boat several times when it comes to signing obscure names. On the theme of South Korea, they were heavily linked with Kim Min-Jae back in 2021, but he ended up signing for Fenerbahce, before his moves to Napoli and Bayern. In 2022, the club were linked with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Dinamo Butani, who ironically enough won the 22/23 Serie A title with Kim.
