As per the reliable Paul O Keefe, Dominic Solanke remains an injury doubt ahead of the final game before the international break at Newcastle United on Sunday.

He also stated that Richarlison is "struggling" implying the Brazilian forward could well also miss the game at St James' Park.

Richarlison's injury issues have been well documented, and this comes as another frustrating setback.

In better news, O Keefe mentioned that Spurs central defender Micky Van De Ven is set to be available for selection and at Ange Postecoglu's disposal for the game, in a big and needed boost for Spurs ahead of the game.

As frustrating as the striker update is, and you would ideally want all three (of the above players) available for selection, if you could have chosen one player of the three to be available for the game you would surely go for Van De Ven, given his almost unmatched importance to Spurs.

Tottenham injury update ahead of the trip to Newcastle

The last two trips to Newcastle have been a nightmare for Spurs, with ten goals conceded and just one, a scarce consolation, scored in those two games. Whilst Van De Ven did play, and have a tough game, in the 4-0 defeat back in April, could you then imagine how bad it would have been without him?

The Magpies only scraped a 1-0 in their first home game of the season, against Southampton, but that came after Fabian Schar got sent off in the first half, and they were able to then score and see the game out after that red card. That aforementioned red card means that Schar will be unavailable for this game, which helps ease the pain of Spurs looking like they will have no available striker for the game.

Newcastle also had an intense showdown against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, whilst Spurs have had the week off, which could play into the hands of Ange Postecoglu's side.
