Most of the Tottenham injury news this season has centred around some form of Rodrigo Bentancur injury. The Uruguayan international was missing for a large chunk of this season and in truth, he is yet to fully recover from his absence.

As per WhoScored, he has made just 7 Premier League starts so far this season. This is likely a result of Ange Postecoglou being temperamental with how he uses Bentancur, over fear of causing further injury.

According to a new report by ESPN, Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed further news about his injury return. The player himself has confirmed that he's been playing with an injury for the last three weeks to help out the team. This was due to the decision made by Bentancur not to get surgery, which would put him out of contention for a longer period of time.

In his own words, Bentancur said: “I broke it two or three weeks ago, but I’m still playing the same. I broke my phalanx. I had to stop for three or four weeks for it to knit up, and it was impossible. It was before the game against Crystal Palace in training, but here I go, recovering. Once I warm up, I forget.”

Look, there is no denying that Bentancur's admiration for the club is great to see. To be so determined to the cause that he is willing to play through an injury is the greatest form of dedication. However, from the club's perspective, he should take a break.

After all, pushing through an injury is only going to exacerbate the injury. In truth, Spurs could manage without him in the starting eleven, especially if it means he'll come back stronger. A fully fit Bentancur is better than a half-effort Bentancur, as admirable as his determination is.
