Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a major change in their defensive lineup as they prepare to part ways with Emerson Royal this summer. Reports suggest that Spurs have identified Monaco right-back Vanderson as a potential replacement.
After three years at Tottenham, Emerson Royal appears to be on his way out. The Brazilian, who provided crucial versatility during last season's injury crisis, is not seen as a good fit for manager Ange Postecoglou's system, per The Athletic.
In light of Gianluca Di Marzio's information, AC Milan are interested in signing the 25-year-old and have already begun preliminary talks.
Initially, Tottenham were hoping to secure £25.5m for Emerson, per reports. However, the club has now reduced their asking price to £17.5m, which has accelerated negotiations, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
As Emerson edges closer to the exit, Spurs need a new right-back. According to UOL, the club has set its sights on another Brazilian, Monaco's Vanderson. The 22-year-old full-back has reportedly been the subject of initial contact behind the scenes.

Vanderson would be an excellent addition to Tottenham's squad. He represents a significant upgrade over Emerson Royal and would be better suited to the inverted full-back role in Postecoglou's system.
Bringing in a player like Vanderson shows Spurs' intent to strengthen their squad across the board. The potential transfer of Vanderson, combined with Emerson's departure, would be a strong start to Tottenham's summer transfer activities.
The market value of Vanderson is approximately £17 million (€20 million), according to Transfermarkt.
