CaughtOffside is reporting that Tottenham have matched Juventus' contract offer for Federico Chiesa, who has one year remaining on his existing contract with The Old Lady.

They are suggesting that the said offer is €6m a year, which equates to just over £5 million pounds.

Chiesa seems to be holding out for €8m a year though, a figure that CaughtOffside report that Spurs are not willing to match. Seemingly, Juventus feel the same way.

At his best, there is no doubting Chiesa's quality. He was praised heavily for his performances during Italy's successful Euro 2020 campaign, a tournament where he really introduced himself on the world stage.

However, it would be wrong to ignore the injury history with Chiesa, and how his career has stagnated since an ACL injury suffered in a game against AS Roma back in January of 2022.

The publication also stated that Chiesa is willing to stay at Juventus if nobody else comes in with a tempting enough offer, before adding that the winger has interest from the Saudi Pro League, but wants to continue in Europe.

Finally, they mentioned that Napoli and AS Roma both had interest in Chiesa, but could not match his desired wages. You sense that it could be a familiar ending with Spurs unless a compromise comes around.

Chiesa would be very suited to 'AngeBall' able to hold the width and go down the outside, or come inside and get shots off or thread through a pass. He is capable of playing on either side, but his disappointing performances off the right at the Euros are a good indicator that he plays his best football off the left-hand side.

If the 27-year-old was to join Spurs, he would be helped, especially if he does play off the left, by being with his compatriot Destiny Udogie. That left-hand side link-up would be very exciting to see.
