According to outlet TBR Football, Tottenham Hotspur are one of a number of Premier League clubs interested in Thiago Fernandez, who has already drawn comparisons to the legendary Angel Di Maria, from Argentine side Velez Sarsfield.

They add that the a move to Europe will happen sooner rather than later, with the Premier League most likely to be his next destination - with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Brentford, Aston Villa, and Brighton and Hove Albion also said to be keeping an eye on the player.

They make the point that Chelsea and Brighton have a habit of picking up some of the best progidies from South America.

Fernandez has scored four goals and provided five assists in 15 Liga Professional de Futbol games so far this season, totaling 1,127 minutes of action.

He has also created seven big chances and creates 1.7 chances per game. Nobody in the league can better his five assists so far, and only one player has created more big chances.

He has played nearly every game of his career on the left-hand side, with three appearances as a number ten and one game on the right-hand side.

Fernandez is 20 years old and made his debut for Argentina's U23 side against Paraguay in the summer. Recent reports have emerged suggesting that he is being "very closely monitored" by the senior team, who are "very impressed with the player."

With the South American football calendar being annual, rather than the August-June schedule of European football, the 20-year-old's contract expires at the end of December 2025, so could be available for a fairly modest fee.

The winger is seven months younger than current Spurs youngster and compatriot Alejo Veliz and would join fellow South Americans and former Liga Professional de Futbol players Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur in North London.

Should the above reports about the Argentina senior side consider him for selection, he could well play with Romero before any potential move to Spurs.
