On Sunday afternoon, amidst all the chaos, two Spurs loanees were in action, as Bryan Gil's Girona faced Celta Vigo on the road, whilst Alejo Veliz's RCD Espanyol traveled to Seville to face Real Betis.

For the second time in three games, Gil was named among the subs by manager Michel, who opted for Arnaut Danjuma in his place on the left hand side. Gil replaced the former Spurs forward with 18 minutes left, making it the third game in a row either player had come on for the other.

Unfortunately, not long after the 23-year-old was introduced, Iago Aspas equalised for the hosts, with Girona having been ahead since the 38th minute after a goal from Yangel Herrera. In any case, it is not the worst result on the road. In Gil's 18 minutes on the pitch, he had; 23 touches, 15/15 passes, and a foul drawn.

This result leaves Girona 12th in the La Liga table with nine points from their opening eight games. Next up is their second Champions League game of the season (and ever) as they host Feyenoord on Wednesday evening, as they look to bounce back from their sucker punch defeat to Paris Saint Germain in their opener. Kick-off is 17:45 BST.

Later on Sunday, Alejo Veliz was also named among the subs for Espanyol's trip to Real Betis. The Spurs loanee was introduced after 87 minutes, giving him barely any time to make an impact at all. Two minutes before he was introduced, former Spurs man Giovani Lo Celso netted the winner for the hosts, making it five goals in five games since he rejoined the club. He had scored three goals in 77 league games for Spurs.

This result leaves Espanyol 17th in the La Liga table, with seven points from their first eight games. Next up is a home game against flying Mallorca on Saturday, kick-off at 13:00 BST.
