The importance of Tottenham shifting deadwood in order to bring in the right players for Ange Postecoglou was stressed at the start of the summer, and it is safe to say that the club have done pretty well in that regard.

Joe Rodon and Emerson Royal were sold in permanent transfers to Leeds United and AC Milan respectively, whilst Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was shipped to Marseille on loan with an obligation to buy - so a permanent exit in all but name.

Ryan Sessegnon was released with everyone's best wishes, whilst Bryan Gil was loaned to Girona. Tanguy Ndombele had his contract terminated a year early.

Oliver Skipp is about to sign for Leicester City, whilst Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso are both clearly unwanted and have both been linked with moves away from N17.

Richarlison, whilst not deadwood as such, was allowed to leave, and Saudi Arabian clubs were willing to pay the money for him, but the player himself decided to stay.

Manor Solomon is still expected to depart on loan after heavily falling down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglu.

All in all, it has been a really productive summer for Spurs in terms of shifting deadwood, with potentially more to come. The above players that are at the club, but who can leave this window marries up with Michael Bridge saying we can expect some outgoings, when on Sky Sports recently.

This has allowed the club to fork out on the likes of Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert, and Archie Gray.

Spurs are reported to be still looking at a defender and midfielder, which wouldn't have been possible to fund as well as the aforementioned signings if the club had not been able to shift deadwood this summer.

Serious clubs do not allow deadwood to hang around the place picking up a wage and contributing nothing on the pitch, and it is good to see a no-nonsense approach from the club this summer.
